We're growing! Their profiles will be added to the website soon but we are so excited to welcome Adron Pitmon and Laurel Cole to the Olde Bones Track Club.
Adron was a high school and college standout, holding the Division I 800 State Record for a time in Vermont. He just bettered his 800 PR with a post-college run of 1:52.69 at a recent Twilight Meet in Boston. Adron shows exceptional talent throughout the mid-distances and we look forward to supporting his development over the next few years. Plus, we want to stage a run-off between Adron and our resident All-American Ben, who still has the better PR at 1:52.00. Laurel is also a fellow MMU high school standout who opted out of collegiate running to move up to the half marathon and marathon distance where she shows serious promise. Laurel is a diverse runner, with strong PRs from 800 and the 1500, as well as in cross country. We suspect she'll be a competitor in USATF New England's All Terrain Runner series in 2015. Fun fact, the addition of Adron and Laurel makes three Olde Bones runners who have compartment syndrome. Interesting coincidence... Some younguns thought they could beat Todd and tried the "go out fast and hang on" tactic. They were unsuccessful. Todd-O won by almost a minute and the younguns weren't 2, 3. Kath and I started with a male fan club. I don't blame them. Reeled Man in Red in after the turn. Realizing just about now that I don't have much specificity. Puddles galore. Kath had a bright shirted friend of her own. Kath and I lived and met our goal of "see what happens when you run 15K faster than you've run since last year at this time." Todd dominated. 2014 is really happening! May is here, which means it's officially race season. Todd won Rollin' Irish Half Marathon last weekend in some nasty (albeit classic Rollin' Irish) weather. LT is back on her feet post-Boston, looking towards a half at VCM. Will, Seth and Ben are base building for Toronto and hitting up spring races including a prestigious Mutt Strutt next weekend with Olde Bones dogs Watson and Rosie.
Tomorrow is the Champlain Classic in Shelburne, which Kath and Sarah (and maybe Todd) will tackle in the rain (and maybe thunderstorms). Time to break out the singlets! Huge PR for LT in Boston today, cruising to a 3:21:59 and a 7 minute PR. Way to go girl! Time to soak up the sun.
Lindsey (affectionately LT) and I met, appropriately so, on a track at UVM in the fall of 2012. I was training for Philly and dating a St. Lawrence alum and this tiny little brunette in a St. Lawrence singlet showed up for a workout. Never one for much tact, I asked her "who she was" and the rest is history. When LT moved away for graduate school this summer, it was a painful loss. LT is one of the most consistent runners out there. Through sleet, snow, rain and humidity, she's out there clicking off 70 miles a week. A MD girl in college, she's turned into a formidable force on the roads, recently winning the Crowley 10K and Shamrock 5K in full leprechaun suit.
On Monday, LT will toe the line in Boston (Bib #14964) as she attempts to post a huge PR. Go LT go!! Want to know what we were up to before we built a shiny new website? Catch up on our Tumblr:
